Portugal Real Estate
Buying property in Portugal no longer leads to a Golden Visa. Here is what still qualifies – and where property still counts.
Since October 2023, buying property in Portugal – or investing in a fund with real-estate exposure – no longer qualifies for the Portugal Golden Visa. The remaining options are a €500,000 fund, a €250,000 cultural donation, research funding or a business that creates jobs. Holders who qualified through property before the change can keep renewing on that basis.
Want EU residence through property?
Malta’s Permanent Residence Programme still accepts property: buy from €375,000 or rent from €14,000 a year, with permanent residence from the start. See the Malta Permanent Residence Programme.
Buying a home in Portugal anyway?
You can still buy property in Portugal to live in or as an investment, alongside a Golden Visa made through one of the qualifying options. Tell us what you are looking for in the form and we will put you in touch with partner firms located in Portugal.
